KIERST PHONECALL

Brooklyn based artist Kierst releases new single 'Phonecall' and announces new EP Thud set for release on November 10th on Sad Club Records. Beginning as demos after being finding herself locked-down in her teenage bedroom with her highschool records, the new EP developed into a spacious folky record with nods to slowcore, minimal and melancholic, describing the recording process Kierst states “I tracked vocals and guitar between the hours of 1am and 5am, when the streets were quietest outside my window. The silence made me overly conscious of my roommate and I think if you stripped most of the tracks down, you’d hear that in the performance.” New single 'Phonecall' is a stripped back of acoustic guitars, strings and live drums, lyrically focusing on a long distance relationship and the comfortability of being by yourself; as Kierst puts it, "I think it’s important to know how to sit with yourself, and not depend so much on romantic fulfilment. You can only be as good to someone else as you can be to yourself, and the song’s about knowing when to respect that."
